Iowa Legislature Rejects First Set of Proposed Maps
Council Bluffs, Iowa - The Iowa Senate voted to reject the first proposal of redistricting maps today.
“I commend the Iowa Legislature for rejecting the proposed redistricting maps for the State. Iowans want districts that allow for reasonable access to their elected leaders and keep regions intact.” said Mary Ann Hanusa, Candidate for Congress IA-03.
In floor remarks, Senator Roby Smith, Chair of the Iowa Senate State Government Committee, said, “There are clear indications that plan one can be improved by a second iteration addressing compactness and population deviation."
